Well, we put that offer on that house (on Shades Creek Drive) last Monday. Our contract "expired" this Monday (yesterday), so the seller had until then to respond to our offer. We knew that there had been multiple offers on the house (the house that is--unless inspections would show serious problems somewhere--worth more than the asking price), but we really felt like we should stay at the price we'd prayed about: $6,000 under asking price and requesting the 3.5% toward closing costs that the company had offered.
I've been praying all week. God's will. I've prayed that if it IS God's will that He would move mountains to have the other offer(s) pushed aside for one reason or another, and to let our offer be accepted. And of course, I've prayed that if it isn't God's will that our offer would be rejected and that He'd lead us to the right house at the right time. Either way, I've been praying for Him to order our steps and lead us into His will for us.
Yesterday was deadline day. Yesterday came. Yesterday went. Offer expired. End of story.
Sort of. :-)
This morning we got an e-mail from Laura saying it was too late to call us (she'd been working with other clients), but that she'd received an e-mail saying they had ACCEPTED our offer pending corporate approval!!! ~gasp!~ She's hoping to get the corporate approval today as well as the addendums to sign so we can have a signed contract and get the ball rolling. Wa-Hoo!!!!! I know it ain't over 'til it's over (buying and selling houses is shaky business!), but it sure looks like God has answered our prayers in the affirmative. :-) I'M SO EXCITED!!! I love the openness of this house, and I love the 3 acres it sits on, and I really, really, REALLY love that it's 6 miles from the church!!! We're weary of the long drive to church (I don't know how the Powells do it--we're too old for this! Ha!) and soooooo excited about being nearby. Not just for our convenience, but also so we'll be able to host people! Have company! Invite folks over for Sunday dinner! Keep people with us during Conventions and such! Location. Love the location. ~sigh~
I'm so happy. :-)
So now we're praying for God to let everything go through smoothly. Closing date is supposed to be June 15th. That's less than a month away! Then we start figuring out what we're going to do to this house to get it livable. That'll take a while. The dreaming it up is the fun part. :-) We'll probably be able to move in sometime this fall. How exciting!!!
THANK YOU to all who helped us pray. God bless you all. :-)

HAPPY!! HAPPY!!
It's such a great house for ya'll (pending inspection of course.) I KNOW the 1st owners kept great care of it. I'll guess we'll see what the last owners did.
I'm as excited for ya'll as if it were my own!!!
I really felt that other people probably bid really low on the house...just because that's the climate right now. I was glad ya'll stuck to the offer that God told you to do. He knows all!!!
Praying for the beauracy road to smooth out and everything to move quickly.
But, if for some reason, God does shut the door...we know that He has something even better.
Yeeeahhhh!!! We will also continue to pray that all goes well. God knows best. Its great to just have peace and trust HIM. Sooo excited for you guys. Let me know if you need an electrician or any BIG holes in any odd places, I know just the guy ;)
Thanks, Sister Tammy! We never had even the smallest impulse to alter our offer. We had both felt strongly about the amount we offered to begin with and such a peace about it--as if it was from the Lord. Guess it was. :-) Thank you so much for the prayers. We look forward to our celebration dinner! ;-)
Jamey, I'm SURE we'll need an electrician--we always do. :-) And this is the perfect house for him to come work on. It already has a hole or two in unseemly places... Come to think of it, are you sure he hasn't already been there?! Ha! First things first though--we'll let you know when we plan to move in three or four months from now. We don't even remember how to move without your help, so we're countin' on you. You can be our very first house guests!!! Wa-Hoo!!!!! ;-)
However, I do hope Bro. Horne likes mowing...every other week in the summer. :)
Yeah, I definitely see a riding lawn mower in your future! ;-) I'm so excited for you! It's interesting that your dad and I both, without discussing it first, came up with the same offer price you did. It just feels like the Lord is directing this. He's awful good at miracles!
Hey, Sister Jamey, we could use an electrician here at our house, too. I'm not too crazy about the "big holes in strange places" part, though.
Update: We did receive corporate approval and James is going into town to sign the papers this morning (Wednesday). Then it's time to get a home inspection and hand everything over to the loan officer. Those are the two biggies. :-)
