That's right, folks:
Don't got no ice cream, no cookies, no strudel,
Don't got no ice cream, no cookies, no strudel,
But I'm yodel-aye-yodel-aye-yodel-aye-happy-hoo...
JUST HERE WITH MY POODLE!!!
That's right, WE'RE NUTS! But crazy people are often happy. :-)
This is the newest member of our family. No name yet. Right now the most votes are for either Hank (since I'll never be able to name a son Hank--ha!) or Charlie. We'll discuss some other options, I'm sure, before settling on a name. For now I'm spending my time scouring the Internet in search of what in the world you're supposed to do with a puppy!!! It's been several years since I've done this and I have no clue. It's kind of like somebody dumped a baby on my doorstep and I have no idea how to take care of it! Ha! Part of me keeps saying this is really, really bad timing. But then I think of when James brought Hershey home to me. I had two kids in diapers, I was pregnant with #3, AND we were about to move. So in comparison, this should be a cake walk, right??? I think Hershey was about 8 weeks old when we got him--the same age this little guy is. We can handle this, right??? He is sooooooooo cute! Even James keeps looking at him and smiling or giggling. :-) He's what they call dark apricot and has a little tuft of white on his chest. Our biggest problem is keeping three children from fighting over him. I guess I'll just have to keep him in my lap all the time to keep him safe. ;-)

~sigh~ a poodle ~sigh~
Ha! Oh, COME ON, Sister Tammy!!! There is NO WAY you can say he isn't just the cutest thing you've ever seen! And besides, he is NOT white and his name is NOT Pepe or Fifi or whatever. ;-)
He is ADORABLE!! I love him already!
If our votes count, we like the name Charlie. :)
Thanks, Grace! Now THAT is the kind of response I was expecting. Ha! Thanks for the Charlie vote, too. I like that one, as well. Also on the list right now are Milton, Chester, Amos and Louie.
I LOOOOOVE him! He is WAY, WAY cute!!! Can't wait to hold him!
Ooooohhhhh! He is sooo cute!
I vote for Hank. :-)
LOL! He can only be cute for a couple more weeks. Afer that it's downhill from here. He's still a poodle. Ha!
HANK..you gotta name him Hank. He is cute, but I am in shock you have another dog.
Mom -- I can't wait for you to hold him. He is sooooo lovable. And already dearly loves to be in a lap. Perhaps a little too much! Ha!
Emilee -- As you know (~ahem~) I LOVE the name Hank!!! But none of the kids seem very crazy about it AND I read that it's much more difficult for dogs to master names with one syllable. So I don't know that I'll EVER be able to use it!
Sister Tammy -- He'll be to-die-for cute for several more weeks, I think. I wish you could see him NOW--maybe he could weasle his way into your heart before he grows up. Wouldn't we ALL be amazed?! ;-)
Tammy -- Don't be shocked. It's been nearly two years since we lost Hershey Dog. That's the longest period of time I've ever been without a dog... Okay, so to tell you the truth, I'M a little shocked, too! I was sooooo hesitant about the whole thing (had stopped looking at dogs all together "until after we get moved"), but James found this little guy and had me call on him. I told him right off the bat, "If we go to LOOK at a poodle puppy, we're coming home with one--so don't take us unless YOU are ready to get a dog right now!" There's no way to see a poodle puppy and not fall in love. If he's red or brown anyway. I strongly dislike white or black poodles and I think even they're puppy-cuteness wouldn't win me over. ANYWAY, he's here now, he's ours, and we're happy. A little sleep deprived after last night, but happy. ;-)
Ok so I really don't like little dogs but, He is so cute. I vote Hank too. Happy for ya Becki.
THAT would really be amazing! (but not possible.) hahahaha!
oh he is so cute! I love him! I vote for Charlie.
"Bayou"
I vote for Hank!! I was always told that ONE syllable names for dogs are best.... Anyhow.... he reminds me of Rusy. Was he that color? He is TOO cute! Have fun.
RUSTY!not rusy....
Cute Cute Cute Puppy!!!!! I love it. I also love the name Hank, I vote for Hank.

Okay, I have to put my 2 cents in. He is adorable. I have the perfect name for him: Constantine!! I name all my pets after historical figures. : ) If you don't care for that suggestion, I vote for Amos. He's still a historical figure!!
Cathy--thank you. I agree. He is SO CUTE. :-) I love the name Hank, but the kids aren't too keen on it. Weird-o's!
Sister Tammy--With God ALL things are possible. ;-) I do like Bayou... But the kids say no way. They've made up their minds that it is Charlie. I don't care WHAT they picked--all THREE of them are in agreement, so there's no turning back now! Ha!
Sister Janis--Thanks! Charlie it is. :-)
Melissa--I guess it all depends on where you get your info, hu?! I read that one-syllable names are more difficult for dogs because there are so many other words they will hear that will rhyme with it; two syllables or more sounds more distinct to them. It probably doesn't really matter. Dogs are smart--they'll figure it out either way! Rusty was a little darker (more "red") that this pup, but I think this guy will be sort of short and stalky like Rust. :-)
Sister Marcy, thank you!!! And it's so good to hear from you. :-) It would've been great to have a Hank around the house, but alas... ;-)
Sara, thanks for the recommendation! FUN. We thought about Milton (after M.A. Tomlinson) but couldn't decide if it would be proper to do that or not. Ha! Besides, the kids didn't care for it. I always like names for dogs that you would never actually name your child. You know, like Mortimer and stuff like that. We ended up with a plain old Charlie, but I think it's already beginning to suit him a little bit. :-)
Bosco...go with Bosco since you are not going to name him Hank.
